I want to find a doctor or other health care provider. Who specializes in this field, what do others have to say, and how much do they cost?
---
How should I find a doctor, and what should I expect?
Here are several comments we've received.
"Please women of all ages, be informed consumers of medical care. Do your homework before allowing any doctor to medicate you or operate on you. DO SEEK treatment for sexual problems. Help is out there and you deserve it!"
"I agree. Be an informed patient. Read and get second opinions before having surgery or invasive treatments. Also, know your medications and what they can do to you, both the good and bad effects."
In short, you're in charge of your care. You'll get what you demand. If you don't take control, and aren't knowledgeable, you will only get the best care by luck. Don't count on luck. Get some of the books recommended here, visit our forum and become a knowledgeable consumer. You won't regret it!

You might try the American Board of Sexologists . They're not medical doctors, generally, but psychologists with very specific training in FSD and sexual dysfunction. They will also often have a close working relationship with an MD to help treat patients for both physical and psychological issues.

Compounding Pharmacies - Using them to find a provider (Caution)
If you are not able to find a doctor willing to examine the possibilities of Testosterone or other hormone therapy, you might consider calling one of the compounding pharmacies below. Ask which doctors in your area they work with. This doesn't get you anything more than a list of doctors that are probably willing to consider the treatment that you may need. You will need to carefully screen these providers to ensure you are comfortable with their care and expertise (You might consider posting to our forum, here. You can ask about a provider in your local area, and may be able to find a recommendation from another one of our visitors.) If you have had a good experience with a provider, please let us know. We want to add the names of "peer reviewed" providers to our pages.

http://www.collegepharmacy.com (college has/had a physician on staff who would work with your doc to order the right tests etc. and then Rx. Very helpful for women not in the US)
Compounding pharmacies also have an organization and a locator tool which is helpful http://www.iacprx.org
